Information Measures for Deterministic Input-Output Systems

چکیده
In this work the information loss in deterministic, memoryless systems is investigated by evaluating the conditional entropy of the input random variable given the output random variable. It is shown that for a large class of systems the information loss is finite, even if the input is continuously distributed. Based on this finiteness, the problem of perfectly reconstructing the input is addressed and Fano-type bounds between the information loss and the reconstruction error probability are derived. For systems with infinite information loss a relative measure is defined and shown to be tightly related to Rényi information dimension. Employing another Fano-type argument, the reconstruction error probability is bounded by the relative information loss from below. In view of developing a system theory from an informationtheoretic point-of-view, the theoretical results are illustrated by a few example systems, among them a multi-channel autocorrelation receiver.

DISTINGUISHABILITY AND COMPLETENESS OF CRISP DETERMINISTIC FUZZY AUTOMATA
In this paper, we introduce and study notions like state-\linebreak distinguishability, input-distinguishability and output completeness of states of a crisp deterministic fuzzy automaton. We show that for each crisp deterministic fuzzy automaton there corresponds a unique (up to isomorphism), equivalent distinguished crisp deterministic fuzzy automaton. Finally, we introduce two axioms related...
متن کاملConsidering undesirable variables in PCA-DEA method: a case of road safety evaluation in Iran
This paper presents a deterministic approach for performance assessment of different province’s road safety level at Iran. A data envelopment analysis (DEA) model considering undesirable input and output indices and a multivariate statistical method, principle component analysis (PCA) are used in this paper, while previous studies do not use composite PCA-DEA method and undesirable input and ou...
متن کاملClassifying inputs and outputs in interval data envelopment analysis
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is an approach to measure the relative efficiency of decision-making units with multiple inputs and multiple outputs using mathematical programming. In the traditional DEA, it is assumed that we know the input or output role of each performance measure. But in some situations, the type of performance measure is unknown. These performance measures are called flexi...
متن کاملA survey on Automatic Text Summarization
Text summarization endeavors to produce a summary version of a text, while maintaining the original ideas. The textual content on the web, in particular, is growing at an exponential rate. The ability to decipher through such massive amount of data, in order to extract the useful information, is a major undertaking and requires an automatic mechanism to aid with the extant repository of informa...
متن کاملAn Intensity Measure for Seismic Input Energy Demand of Multi-Degree-of-Freedom Systems
Nonlinear dynamic analyses are performed to compute the maximum relative input energy per unit mass for 21 multi-degree-of-freedom systems (MDOF) with preselected target fundamental periods of vibration ranging from 0.2 to 4.0 s and 6 target inter-story ductility demands of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 subjected to 40 the earthquake ground motions. The efficiency of the several intensity measures as an ind...
